As my motto has always been "go big or go home", I figured I would write something a little more interesting, personal and with more depth than a simple "I like photography" for my bio.
My name is Chris Pui, founder of Big Head Photography. Prior to shooting professionally on a full-time basis, I was an automotive / motorcycle technician for six years. During that time, I excelled quickly from being a grease monkey doing oil changes, to building race motors for motorcycles, all without any schooling. My take on life is that with hard-work and dedication, you can excel just as fast, if not faster, than the guy with all the schooling and training under his belt who lacks nothing except passion. Applying that same philosophy to photography, with nothing but a large stack of photography books and a great mentor, I learned to shape and develop my own unique style.
My interest in photography did not develop until I saw my friends with DSLRs. Once I saved up to buy my very first humble Nikon D80 and started shooting, I became hooked and knew that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. There is something about photography that drives me to push harder and further than anything else I have ever done before. That is how I know that being a photographer is something very special to me. After only one year of amateur shooting, I decided to make my professional move towards photography. I dropped and left everything behind me, and however risky it was, the decision was a no brainer since every last ounce of me knew I wanted to pursue this.
For those that know me, they can attest to the fact that I am a very easy going person with a freakishly funny sense of humour. Ok, maybe not freakishly. But, what I am trying to say, is that most people find it easy to be around me because what you see, is what you get. I am honest and always myself. What I think really differentiates me from others is not only the desire to take memorable photos, but to ultimately and genuinely be your friend in the end. That is what I think is the key to making great photography.
I am a proud husband to a very lucky woman :D, and a father to the cutest little peanut. Keep tuning back to my blog for updates.
